Greek Yogurt Stir-Ins

I don’t know about you, but I like to make my own Greek-style yogurt.  You can also buy plain yogurt and dress it up by stirring in the following combinations.  The real reason you should do this is that the Greek yogurt you buy, unless it is plain yogurt, is loaded with sugar.  Blech!  Also if you keep it on hand, you can use yogurt in savory applications, like Indian cooking, for instance.

PB&J
  • 12 ounces plain Greek yogurt
  • peanut butter
  • grapes, cut in half
  • chopped peanuts
Banana Bread
  • 12 ounces plain Greek yogurt
  • sliced bananas
  • chopped walnuts
  • chocolate chips
Berry Muffins
  • 12 ounces plain Greek yogurt
  • blueberries
  • grated unsweetened coconut
  • drop of vanilla extract
Apple Pie
  • 12 ounces plain Greek yogurt
  • chopped apple
  • ground cinnamon
  • raw oats
Each serves one.

I made the apple pie version and it was good. Didnt measure the amount of apple, oats, or cinnamon just eyeballed everything. The sharp flavor of the greek yogurt was a little bit to much for us but next time will try with a sweeter apple and add some apple pie spice. Made and reviewed for the For Your Consideration recipe tag game.
