I bet you don’t know the difference between Cajun and Creole cooking. I mean it has something to do with Louisiana, right?
I never thought I liked that kind of food because I do not like the Zataran’s box mixes. But with everything, you can adjust a recipe to your own taste. One of the first things we tried were these green beans. I also do not really like green beans either. You’d think I don’t like anything. Truth is I like almost anything. Except Brussels Sprouts. Well, not kimchi either. Not into salty.
So what is the difference between Cajun and Creole cooking?
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 (14 ounce) package frozen green beans
- 6 slices bacon, thick, chopped
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon creole seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Melt butter over medium heat in a large skillet. Stir in green beans, bacon, onion, green pepper, and garlic; cook and stir until onions are translucent, about 2 minutes. Stir in cayenne pepper, Creole seasoning, and black pepper. Cover; reduce heat to low. Simmer until vegetables are tender, about 20 minutes. Season to taste with salt.
