Hominy Turkey Chili

You can make this as hot and spicy as you like.  Using a can of Rotel tomatoes will make the chili hotter, otherwise it is not really hot.

Hominy Turkey Chili

  • 2 Pounds Ground turkey
  • 2 pound hominy
  • 1 pound corn
  • 16 ounces diced tomatoes or a can of Rotel tomatoes
  • 1 pound cooked black beans, drained
  • 1 pound cooked pinto beans, drained
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons dried dill weed
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup water

Brown meat and drain off fat (if using leftover turkey, skip this step).

Place all ingredients in slow cooker and cook on low for 4-6 hours.

Top with shredded cheese and serve with corn chips or tortillas, if desired.

Serves 8-10.
